Up Up and Away!

Dear Reader,

I love airplanes. I also love cars, trucks, boats, trains and helicopters. My favorites are airplanes. Flying is cool. You can see clouds. From the sky, houses and cars look like toys. When we're on a plane my parents are great. They play with me; give me new toys, my favorite foods and everything. It's a blast - for a while. Sometimes we're on the plane for too much time. When that happens I can't help myself.

Being bored is a bummer. If I'm bored at home I switch books/toys or run and scream. I can't do that on an airplane. Sometimes on planes I watch DVDs, sleep or draw but there's only so much of that a toddler can withstand. Occasionally I have to walk. There isn't much to see while walking on an airplane, except loads of different people. My parents never let me touch any of them.

Planes are fun to watch when you're on the ground and they're in the air. Inside a plane isn't as much fun as you'd think. People don't talk to you or play games. You're stuck in a chair playing with your parents. The worst part is that you have to use your indoor voice for the whole ride. I try to sit still and play big boy but it's hard. There's loads to discover and I'll never see it if I stay in my car seat. One day I hope to escape and see where the pilot sits. I bet its fun in there.

I don't know why but I use more diapers on planes. My parents have to change my clothes one or two times during each flight. I think the altitude weakens my bladder and other parts. Anyway, If you can reach, its fun to kick the sear in front of you or pull the seat tray up and down. I don't understand why my parents don't like me to do that. They should try it.

Once when we were flying home from Grampy's I couldn't help myself; nothing was right. I didn't like my snacks, toys, or car sear. I kept trying to explain this to my parents but they didn't understand my kicking and whining. Finally I screamed and cried hoping someone would rescue me. I was tired of flying but the plane was still in the air. It took forever to get home.

I like airports better than airplanes. In airports I can run and watch planes take off and land. I also see cool trucks. The drivers wave and smile at me. People talk to you in the airport. On the airplane they play Night Night.

Toy planes are better than real ones. You can throw toys when you've had enough of them. Real planes should have playrooms and reading corners; a bunch of seats and windows are boring. The best part about flying is that at the end of the trip you're in a fun place or home with your stuff. That's what planes are best at -- getting you somewhere.
