A
Happy, Healthy Sunday!
A higher level of holistic health and
energy surround Penny after she encounters
www.thegardendiet.com!
I'm
in the middle of housecleaning but felt
like taking a break to write a journal
entry! The weather is beautiful here today,
so I have opened all of my windows to
allow God's fresh air to flow throughout
the house. Although there's a mild chill
in the air, the breeze feels great. It
feels as if old energy is leaving my house
and new energy is entering.
Caleb and a friend of his have just gone
outside to play. When they were deciding
if they would play here today or at his
friend's house, Caleb said it didn't matter
either way to him; his friend said he
preferred to come here so that they could
play the piano. So, our house it is! The
boys played around with the keyboard for
a little while followed by a piano duet.
They got an upbeat rhythm going that prompted
me to break out a few dance steps.:-)
Now the boys have moved on outdoors--inhaling
more of this fresh, therapeutic air.
In addition to nature's therapy--the fresh
air--I'm also feeling quite balanced today
thanks to a 50-minute Pilates workout
I did last night (which I hadn't done
in a while) and about 20 minutes of stretching
this morning! I felt like I was doing
Yoga this morning when stretching from
Jorge Cruise's "8 Minutes in the
Morning...." book. Because these
exercise positions should be held for
60 seconds each, it's a great opportunity
to meditate and/or pray during that time.
It's an ideal way for me to balance my
mind, body and soul.
I'm also feeling on top of the world because
of a web site I came upon a week ago--www.thegardendiet.com.
I feel an indescribable energy--a spiritual
energy--when I'm there, and thanks to
recipes there, I have found a healthy
way to cure my occasional sweet tooth!
For instance, I recently made a no-cook,
all natural "Creamy Peach Pie"
from a recipe on www.thegardendiet.com.
What a tasty, healthy alternative it is
to pies full of artificial ingredients!
Because my sweet tooth can occasionally
get the best of me, Caleb (my 10-year-old
son) has mentioned that eating sweets
does not complement the fact that I do
not eat meat! They don't go together in
his mind, and he's right! However, I have
said to him: "Mommy may have given
up the meat but she hasn't given up the
sweets.":-) But, if I am embracing
a lifestyle primarily of nature's finest
foods, why would I want to tarnish that
with any junk food? Again, Caleb is right;
the two truly don't go together!
So, last Sunday, when I came across www.thegardendiet.com
(a site I've just fallen in love with),
I encountered an abundance of valuable
information for optimum health for mind,
body and spirit--including alternatives
for satisfying this sweet tooth of mine
in a healthy way! So far, I have made
the peach pie--that requires no baking,
and my son thoroughly enjoyed it which
is a great indication that this recipe
is GOOD! I've also made the homemade fudge
recipe I received in one of Storm and
Jinjee's eBooks (details on the site).
Check them out! Pretty amazing! I'm so
inspired by this raw vegan couple!
My journey of eating those types of foods
that make you feel healthy simply by touching
them has expanded considerably this past
week, thanks to www.thegardendiet.com!
I now have groceries in my pantry and
fridge that I hadn't even heard of before
such as, Bok Choy (a Chinese cabbage),
Medjool Dates, and Raw Tahini. I love
learning new things! Thank you, God, for
all of the greatness you send my way!
Back to the boys! When Caleb and his friend
returned indoors, they wanted to make
a fresh juice in our juicer. They opted
to try an apple/orange juice combo! Surprisingly,
until today, I had never combined these
two fruits when juicing. The carrot/apple/ginger
combo is popular in my home! In any event,
the boys juiced organic apples and oranges,
and LOVED the taste. Their enthusiasm
about it made me have to try it for myself.
They were right; that juice is absolutely
delicious!
Prior to that, I had a taste for a little
something salty. I'm sure that an apple/celery
or carrot/celery juice combo would have
cured that, but I decided to cut up an
avocado and sprinkle a little sea salt
on it, and that was incredibly tasty,
too.
Not that I ever doubted this, but all
that I need to survive spiritually, mentally
and physically can truly be found in my
love of God and His love for us all, my
family (especially being a mom and all
that it brings to life), my friends, exercise,
healthy foods, a level of service to others,
and ongoing creative outlets to express
the inner me. I can't think of much else
that I really need--other than a publisher
for my captivating, already-illustrated
children's book manuscript! :-)
For me, life's treasures are really in
the simplest of things! I love life!
Today is a happy, healthy day! :-)
