Review of Honeywood Street Fair
by Caleb Powell (with a little help from Mommy and
Daddy)
In
The
Honeywood Street Fair by Catherine Lukas, Little Bill and his
whole neighborhood help Little Bill's sister, April, get new uniforms
for her basketball team. They have a street fair.
They sell stuff at the street fair like grapes, apples, cookies and
lemonade. Alice the Great, Little Bill's great-grandmother, sells
clothes she made out of wool at the street fair. There is a basketball
hoop there, too, and if people make all five shots, they get to pick
a prize. It costs $1 to play that game.
When they add all the money they raised, they end up with more than
enough money for April's basketball team.
My favorite part of the book is when April is shooting the basketball
and she makes the shot. It was fun putting stickers on the pages,
too. Stickers come with this book.
Caleb is a 7-year-old first-grader who is doing
very well in school. He enjoys the outdoors and welcomes every opportunity
to play outside with his friends. He is an avid football fan and plays
Flag Football, Soccer and Basketball. Because of his high interest
in football, his parents are currently helping him to master the names
of the United States by matching states to the names of professional
and college football teams. Caleb's thoroughly enjoying that lesson!
