CELEBRATINGCHILDREN.COM NAMES 6-YEAR-OLD CALEB POWELL TO REVIEW CHILDREN'S BOOKS

AURORA, IL, March 18, 2002 - Stacey Montgomery, founder and editor of CelebratingChildren.com, the premier African American parenting website, announced today that 6-year-old kindergartner, Caleb Powell of Virginia Beach, VA, would be its "Kid Reviewer." Caleb will write a monthly review of a children's book of his choice. CelebratingChildren.com will publish each review in a new column called "Kid Review."

In making the announcement, Stacey Montgomery, said: "One of CelebratingChildren.com's goals is to promote literacy. At CelebratingChildren.com we frequently publish articles reviewing children's books and interviewing authors. I am delighted that we are now also providing information from a child's perspective. We are now reporting in a child's words why a book is enjoyable and why parents should get the book for their children."

When he learned that he was selected to be the Kid Reviewer, Caleb smiled and said: "Wow, I have a job. When do I start?" He then asked, "But, Mommy, are you going to help me read the words I can't read yet?" Proud parents, Penny and Collin Powell, have assured Caleb that they will assist him in every way possible with his new role. They are excited about their only child's latest literary opportunity. "What a fun and meaningful activity for Caleb to be responsible for each month," they said. "He can benefit in so many ways from this experience, so we're just absolutely thrilled about this. We can't think of a better 'first job' for our son," they commented.

In addition to reading books, Caleb loves to collect and build Bionicles, count money, and play "Monopoly Junior." He enjoys the outdoors and welcomes every opportunity to play outside with his friends. His parents, who are his number-one reading and soccer fans, say that Caleb is doing great in school and sports.
